Chapter 53: The miraculous cure for muscle pain
Did you rush?
I had to look like any “ordinary nanny.” As soon as I realized my mistake, I quickly bowed deeply:
“I apologize. I beg your pardon, my lord.”
The Emperor said as he slowly descended the stairs:
“Don't do anything that requires forgiveness...unless you don't value your life.”
When he passed by me, he muttered in a voice that only I could hear:
“Thank your luck that I don’t hate people who make an effort. "I'll ignore it this time...but I don't know how long that kid will last."
He laughed faintly, then walked away quietly.
I clenched my hand tightly as I stared at the spot where he was.
Contempt does not suit me.
Since I set foot in the palace, I have found nothing that suits me. Everything causes distress, but patience must be done... This is better for Edwin and me in the long run.
However, why wouldn't I want to back out?
I straightened my clothes, and Edwin's innocent face came to my mind.
Alternative, they said?
I descended the steps upon which the Emperor had descended—not to follow him or the commander, but to accompany the prince whom I had chosen myself.
⸻
Machine gun!
“Ah!”
Machine gun!
“Eeeek!”
Gosh!
Edwin groaned as he flopped in the water, his body refusing to obey.
This is difficult! Very difficult!
After completing ten ascents to the top of the mountain, he found the “Ladder Climbing” training waiting for him.
He was wet to the bone, staring up where a long ladder extended over a wide pond—the cavalry training known as “crossing the stream.” A nice name for a tough workout that exhausted many people.
He watched the knights pass one by one with their heavy armor, hanging by their arms, and some of them falling into the water as they lost their strength. As for him, he fell more than everyone else.
“Your Highness, staying in the water for too long will tire you out faster!” Knight shouted.
Edwin gritted his teeth.
Did my brothers go through this? I can't believe it!
But retreat was not an option.
My knees no longer carry me, and my arms betray me!
He crawled out of the water again and held on to the ladder. He extended one hand, then the other...and then fell again.
“Ahh!”
He hit the water again. He barely made it a few blocks before his powers gave out on him.
He was filled with anger—anger at himself, at his own weakness.
“Ooooh!”
He dragged himself out of the water again, his clothes sticking to him like a wet rag. He no longer cares about anything but finishing what he started.
I will succeed! I must succeed!
Faces alternated in his mind—his little sister, his teacher, and even me.
“Ahh!”
He extended his hand towards the stairs, meditating in his heart: Just a little while... just a little while!
When he finally passed it, he collapsed on the dirt, lying down.
The Third Prince completed his first day of “Gloria” training, and after about two hundred attempts, he crossed the six hundred feet of the ladder.
⸻
“Ooooh…”
Edwin groaned as he regained consciousness.
I said: “Are you awake?”
“Oppa, are you okay?” Emilia said.
He slowly moved his head towards us.
«Emilia? Rachel…?”
“You fainted in training,” I said. "You're in your room now."
“My room?”
He looked around confused, then gasped:
“But I haven't finished training yet... Agh!”
He tried to get up and screamed in pain.
"Yes…!"
I reassured him: “This is a muscle strain.” “Stay lying down.”
“But… the training is not over!”
“It's over. You eventually fell, and then I moved you.”
He took a deep breath and stared out the window at the dark sky.
“Then... I can't.”
I asked him: “What do you mean?”
“I couldn't handle all the training.”
“You finished it the moment you fainted.”
“Why?”
“A monster was seen at the northern gate, so all the knights were summoned.”
Monster attacks had increased recently even within the capital.
But didn't the King of Adamant say that he had eliminated them?
Really strange.
As for Edwin, he seemed lost and concerned. Then I patted him on the head and said:
“Well done.”
His eyes widened in astonishment.
"I did well? I?"
"Yes. I didn't expect you to finish climbing the mountain at all. "You did more than I thought."
His face lit up with a wide smile.
"truly? Then can I be as strong as Sir Jerome?'
Jerome… again?
He looked at me with eyes sparkling like a young deer.
I said coldly without meaning to:
“Didn't you say you wanted to be as strong as me?”
"naturally! You're so strong too, Rachel. But Sir Jerome is the most powerful knight in the empire. And the teacher said: Always aim high!
Old Sage won't stop talking nonsense...
“Your Highness, take off your clothes,” I said seriously.
«Huh? Why?
“Let's relax your muscles. You have training tomorrow too.”
I opened a small jar, and a sharp smell emanated from it.
"What is this?" “Ashhh!” Emilia asked, then sneezed three times in a row. Achsh!”
I wiped her nose and carried her on my back.
As for Edwin, he was confused: “What is this?”
“Massage oil mixed with pepper oil.”
"pepper? Isn't it for cooking?
“Everything has another use.”
He hesitated a little, then took off his clothes, remained in his underwear, and lay down.
I touched his back, and he flinched: “Ah!” It tickles!”
“Bear it,” I said.
He quickly burst out laughing, then suddenly shouted:
«Ooooh! "It hurts!"
"natural."
“Lighten up! Please!"
“I take it easy on you.”
“Ghaaah!”
This is his reward for praising Jerome in front of me.
I pressed a little harder, and he yelped like a choking frog.
«Rachel! Stop!
Emilia suddenly jumped on his back:
«Oppa! Leah treats you!”
He screamed and buried his face in the pillow.
“Graaah!” Leah... Oof...”
The scene was not a healing, but a “destruction.” Maybe the little princess has an innate talent...in assassination.
Edwin finally shouted:
«Eeeek! Rachel! Tell the truth! You're mad at me, aren't you?!
