Chapter 47: Objective (2
Saj was surprised by the prince's answer, and said, opening his mouth in astonishment:
“Hmm.”
Edwin asked him, surprised by his reaction:
“Teacher? What’s wrong?”
Saj answered, touching his beard and smiling:
“Nothing… I just didn’t expect to hear such words from a shy boy like you. Your ambition is far greater than your current ability.”
There was sadness on Edwin's face, but Sage continued:
"It depends on what power means to you. What power do you want to have?"
Edwin replied without hesitation:
“I want to be strong enough to defeat monsters alone!”
Sage laughed sarcastically:
“This is not my field. Do you want to learn martial arts from an elder who is nearing his end? If you do, you will have to find another teacher.”
Upon hearing this, worry appeared on Edwin's face. Then Sage shouted loudly:
“You little one!”
Edwin was confused:
“Yes?”
Sage said sharply:
“Why do you carry a burden greater than yourself? Don’t worry, everything will be resolved one way or another.”
Then he smiled a sly smile, but it was not directed at Edwin but at the door.
Edwin turned to see Rachel standing there.
After the prince left, Saj sat in front of me and said:
“There are many things we need to talk about.”
Then he stared at me and added:
“Don't you think you owe me an explanation?”
I answered him coldly:
“I don't understand what you mean.”
He smiled wickedly and said:
“Tell me, what is the probability that an ordinary nanny would be able to kill a monster with an ancient dagger?”
I did not answer, but he continued confidently:
"Edwin told me himself. He said that you saved him from the monster. The monster does not abandon its prey unless it is killed. I was sure from the beginning that you were not an ordinary woman. The way you spoke and acted revealed that."
Then he looked at me sharply and said:
“There are only three who can kill a monster alone: a knight, a wizard, or a trained assassin… and you look a lot like Kayla Angel, right?”
I feigned ignorance:
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
But Saj interrupted me directly:
“Or is it you… Kayla?”
There was a heavy silence in the library. I remained stiff in place. He said with a sarcastic smile:
“Your silence confirms that my suspicion was not a mistake.”
Then he burst out laughing loudly:
“Hahaha! I was sure you wouldn’t die that easily! Is it a new secret mission? Your disguise is better this time than before.”
I quickly put my hand on his mouth and said sharply:
"Don't call me that. My name is Rachel Brown."
He laughed as he leaned back in his chair.
"Okay, Miss Rachel Brown. But it's very funny."
I suddenly remembered and asked him:
“Who told you that Kayla Angel died?”
He furrowed his eyebrows and said:
“I must ask you myself. Why did you show an unknown knight to my place?”
I looked at him confused:
"Knight? What knight?"
He replied clearly remembering:
“A man covered in black, smelling of blood. He burst into my door and asked me, ‘Did you kill Kayla Angel?’”
I felt my heart turbulent. He did not say, “Is she dead?” but rather, “Was she killed?”
Saj completed:
“I didn't see his face well, but he was carrying a huge black sword, and his eyes were like those of a monster. He looked like someone chasing his arch enemy.”
I said in a steady voice:
“Is that all you wanted to say?”
Sage smiled wickedly:
“No. I have another question as the prince’s tutor: What do you plan to do with Edwin from now on?”
I looked at him directly and replied:
“I know he wants to be strong, and I promised him I would make him that way.”
Sage raised his eyebrows in surprise and said:
“Do you know what this means?”
She asked him sharply:
“What do you mean?”
He said with clear seriousness:
“For a prince to gain power means entering into a struggle for the throne. Don’t tell me you didn’t think about that.”
