# Chapter 10
If this were someone else's story, it would be an interesting sight to watch. But since Edmund may be my master, this atmosphere is not good.
“Your Highness Prince Lucid, why did you call me?”
“Oh, right, Olivia.”
Lucid grabbed my wrist lightly, as if he had just remembered why he had come.
“Do you know how much I searched for you?”
"What?"
Why does he act like we're best friends? When did we become close?
“Why didn't you register?”
“Signed up for what?”
I responded questioningly to his ambiguous question.
“I said I was going to help reunite families lost in the Civil War! Didn’t you hear? This project I came up with because of you.”
Oh, he's talking about the family reunification project. I knew this project from the novel. But Lucid was supposed to think of it on his own, so why would he say it's because of me? If he said that, Edmund would think there was something between Lucid and me.
“I don't have a family.”
“But you lost your memory. Who knows if you have a family?”
Lucid frowned.
'No, I really don't have a family. 'I'm a doll!'
Of course, I thought about signing up to find that boy, but we're not a family, so I couldn't sign up. Originally, I work under Edmund's supervision, so if the Lucid project succeeds, that will be a problem for me.
“Do you know Baron Schurtz?”
“Um… let me think.”
I tried to recover my memory.
To work under a prince, I must memorize the names of the nobles of the empire.
I studied the Nobles Guide diligently, but to be honest, there are a lot of nobles, and unless they are from the capital, I don't remember them right away.
“Oh, the family that moved to the South during the Civil War?”
“Right, you know very well!”
Lucid's green eyes crinkled gently.
“They say that the baron and his wife lost their only daughter during the war.”
“…And what do I have to do with that?”
I tilted my head questioningly, and Lucid beat his chest two or three times impatiently.
“They lost their blue-haired, blue-eyed daughter, five years old, in the capital.”
“Ah... that's unfortunate.”
But this was not the answer he wanted. Lucid frowned and asked, “Don’t you think you might be that girl?”
"What?!"
At his words, Eclat covered her mouth and said, “Oh my God, it would be great if they were your parents!”
“No, impossible.”
“Why is it impossible? You seem so confident.”
At Edmund's sharp question, I quickly shook my head.
“I mean, I can't be a noble...”
“Then, let's go!”
“No, wait a minute!”
I looked at Edmund, but he looked at me for a moment and then his eyes turned to Eclat. His red eyes were looking at her gently.
Eclat also smiled at him beautifully, and they looked like a painting.
As I walked away, I sighed at how perfect they looked together.
Lucid took me to the palace garden where his project was being held.
Under the gorgeous flower decorations, people were hugging their families lost for 15 years and crying.
The project itself was good, many people lost their families in the war. The problem was these two people.
“Oh my God, she looks just like my childhood wife!”
“Boo, it's definitely our missing daughter!”
Baron Schurtz and his wife spoke while crying. The friendly-looking couple looked like hospitable country people.
If I really had no memory, I would have believed them.
“Oh my God, am I really your daughter?”
I covered my mouth as if I was affected, and the Baroness held my hand while crying.
“Yes, you are definitely my daughter. I knew you at first sight.”
Oh my goodness, this lady acts so well! But why are they suddenly looking for a daughter who doesn't exist?
In my memory, Baron Schurz did not have a fiefdom, and they served in a simple local position. Do they need money?
“Oh my God, this is amazing.”
Is their goal my salary? Or do they want more support? Perhaps they thought that having a daughter working in the First Prince's office would secure them a position. But Edmund does not transfer employees for this reason. They completely miscalculated.
"Oh my God! I had two parents!"
It is easy to detect their intentions.
If money is their goal, all I have to do is show them there is no money. I smiled warmly, and the couple looked at each other, smiled, and hugged me.
“Yes, I am your father.”
Who said he was my father? Are you a doll? I tried to raise the corner of my mouth and said, “Actually, after I lost my parents, I accumulated a lot of debt.”
At the mention of debt, their hold on me loosened.
“Dion? We heard that the High Priest supports you?”
Wow, they did good research. Of course, to cheat at an event organized by a prince, they must be meticulous.
“True, but while I was studying at the temple, I accumulated a lot of debt. Housing costs, food, my clothes, my shoes... Since I was an ambitious student, I took expensive private lessons and bought many rare books.”
I counted the things while folding my fingers, smiling. Of course, there were no debts. The priests were always good to me, and the High Priest never skimped on support.
“Almost… five thousand cranes?”
“Five thousand?!”
The Baroness, who had been crying moments before, suddenly pushed me away. Of course, five thousand krona is a large enough sum to be a disaster.
As I expected, money was the goal.
Their intimate treatment changed as soon as debts were mentioned.
“We haven't heard of that!”
cried the Baron with a pale face.
For a moment, his words sounded as if he had received my information from someone.
His wife quickly pulled his arm.
“We thought about it, maybe it's not our daughter. Isn't it, dear?”
"Exactly. When we look closely, there doesn't seem to be any resemblance. Maybe we made a mistake."
She took another step closer as they walked away, smiling embarrassed.
There was definitely someone behind this.
“But who knows! Appearance changes with growth. You said that you lost your daughter in the capital during the war, right? Tell me in detail.”
"Leave me! We didn't hear you were in debt! We just…"
Oh my God, who chose these two idiots? I didn't expect them to reveal their intentions so quickly. Well, let me know who's behind this.
“This story seems to require careful listening.”
Everyone, including me, turned to the cold voice from behind.
Black hair, sparkling red eyes, long strides.
It was Edmund.
How did he come here and leave Ecla? I thought he would be with her.
“Hail, His Highness the First Prince!”
The Baron and his wife quickly saluted. They seem to know Edmund despite their local position.
“I heard that a girl from my office found her parents, so I came to congratulate her, but they are not her parents, right?”
Edmund stared at them with a devil-like stare.
“Judging by what they said, it seems like someone sent them.”
“No, it's not!”
"Looks like we need an investigation. Who exactly was the target?"
At a signal from Edmund, the guards began dragging the couple away.
How cruel! Of course, I have no intention of helping them.
“Wait, Your Highness!”
“Your Highness! We only did what we were told!”
At that moment, Lucid quickly took out a gun from his waist.
Takh-! Takh-!
Two accurate shots. I saw blood splattering, and I sat in shock.
The sounds of screaming people surprised by the gunshots echoed around me.
"How dare someone lie on my project? It's definitely my fault. Olivia, I'm sorry, what do I do?"
Lucid smiled as he held the gun, without any remorse.
"Sorry, bro. I know you hate guns."
“…You have become so rude.”
“Thanks for the compliment.”
There was a tense atmosphere between them, but my eyes only saw the two heart-pierced corpses.
A bullet in the heart, two bodies. If I don't find my master, if I don't win his heart, I will become like these corpses.
My body trembled like trees in the wind. Being caught in the act seemed unreal, but seeing people falling in front of me made it real. This world is reality now.
