Chapter Four
.Chapter Four.
After Bernard returned to his brighter self, the two of them, Jed and Max, were still at the gym.
However, since they had already exhausted themselves from so many fighting sessions, they sat down to rest in the shade.
At that, Max muttered, as if he was worried about the knight he cherished slowing down.
“I thought you were a complete Iron Man, but you have an unexpected weakness… Of course, since you are Sir Bernard, I think you will do well.”
At these words, Jed turned and faced him.
“I feel very worried about him. He fell in love, fell in love with the sword, and ruined the marriage arranged by his family.”
At that, Max looked at Jed and said.
“It's not like that, sir, it must be fun for Bernard, who was just an iron wall, to stumble like this.”
“…Oh, did you notice that?”
He laughed hard. He spoke in a thoughtful tone.
“It's definitely interesting. It's the first time I've seen him shake so much. I'm curious about that woman named Rena.”
Thinking the tone was kind of cool, Max looked at him and interrupted.
“Don't fight him too much. You could get a serious nose injury.”
“Sure. Your Majesty. I’m always a serious person. I’ll fight him in moderation.”
After saying that, he smiled mischievously.
“If you show off like that, it's only natural that you want to get hit, right?”
Max saw this and tried to change the topic and said:.
“I like Lady Carmella's reaction more. Surely what she's doing isn't wrong, is it? Bernard's method is nothing more than crushing those weaker than him to make it easier for him.”
However, it seemed that Jed's nerves were already focused on Bernard's mistress.
He pretended to listen to Emir, his red eyes shining harshly like a cat that had found something interesting.
Max suddenly thought that Bernard's future was dark, and gently warned him.
“Bernard is different from you. Once he's done with his family, he's done for good.”
“Well, maybe it is. Your Majesty. Will that bowl of rice notice who would make it fall? You must be stupid.”
Max wanted to refute this statement for Bernard's sake, but he could not find any more expressive words than what Jed had said.
It's the right thing to say, because Bernard didn't turn his head in that direction. In some ways, I already thought that was an advantage.
So, instead of accepting Jed's words, he brought up the story of the woman who insulted Bernard again.
“Anyway, it's really cool. What about the one who insulted Bernard so badly that he was so confused? I hope to see her face one day. She seems like an interesting person.”
If she had a personality like that, he was bound to hear it from time to time, but her name was unfamiliar.
He learned that the Minister of Finance had a daughter and that she was sometimes on the list of candidates for the Crown Prince, but that was all. Perhaps he saw her while he was going in and out of the Imperial Palace.
However, judging from the fact that even a faint impression was not left, it seemed that they did not have a meaningful conversation.
He remembered Carmilla's name again. The name had a very short attention span and sunk into memory.
As wedding preparations came to a halt, an eerie silence fell over the Armenian palace where I was staying.
It was partly because I didn't have to be busy anymore, but it was partly because my personality changed and I was turned upside down.
Instead, I was told that I was fine, but the workers who were watching me remained silent and watched their actions, trying not to make a sound and the house was like a house of mourning.
Risdell became rambunctious wherever she went, and one day I found her crying in the corner.
Everywhere she went, she seemed to be criticized because she was the one who ruined my marriage and ostracized.
Finally I called the maids together.
The children's faces hardened when they realized Rysdahl, whose eyes were wide open, was standing behind me.
She could see the hot red-haired maid staring at Rhysdale with sideways glances.
I sighed gently and clapped my hands. Seeing Hana, the red-haired girl quickly bow her head, she bowed lightly.
“…I understood why I called you, even if I didn’t tell you.”
The children bowed their heads. However, I had no intention of separating them by scolding them.
That's why I said in a soft tone.
“Of course you are right. But I did not call you to punish you for that. Instead, I feel sorry for Rysdial, but I am a little touched.”
I explained to them with puzzled faces.
“Honestly, my landlord is strict and demanding. So I was surprised to hear that you were more upset and depressed than me about my breakup, and even quarreled.”
Of course, the reason for the breakup was ambiguous, but I looked them in the eyes with a gentle expression.
The whip is not enough to rule people. Especially in this type of conflict resolution, it was a bad idea. The best thing is to make them love each other.
“I know you are loyal and trustworthy, but I was less aware of your personal loyalty and affection towards me. But this is how I found out.”
I pointed to Rysdahl.
“Rysdale, bring the gifts.”
Risdell came with ribbons of beautiful shiny fabric and a basket of velvet or silk fabric.
She too was puzzled.
I took the basket and walked away and took out colorful and fancy ribbons from it.
I gave them one by one according to their hair color and shape.
“This is not a reward for what I did for Risdell, but a gift of my joy for your loyalty and affection for me. So there is no tolerance for your actions. Be careful what you do in the future.”
Even though it was a piece of cloth left over from the wedding preparations, it was a dream cloth that only aristocrats could touch. If the children used this silk, there would be nothing they couldn't get, but it was obviously going to be too expensive for them to buy.
There are many people who one by one save money or feed someone else. So I could see that they were very happy with these expensive and beautiful little things.
I politely said thank you to those who bowed their heads in a beautiful voice.
“It is thanks to Lisdell that she has come to know your loyalty and affection, so please be kind to her as well.”
Seeing them saying thank you one after another as if they were a little hesitant, their expressions were relaxed. At least it wasn't those faces that weren't upset.
She smiled softly and gave a final low warning.
“This work has a private side and has been overtaken, but if we discover that there is disagreement or bullying among employees in the future, we will be punished severely, so beware.”
It was fun to see them nod their heads properly.
“Now get to work.”
After all, I had bought a lot of expensive fabric for wedding preparations, and I had a lot of leftover fabric, so it was nice to put it to good use this way.
The mansion was full of new staff, and the head of the house, the owner, was me, who had been keeping the new mansion clean for years.
A problem like this was ridiculous.
If I had to clean and cook by myself to raise a family, I couldn't. Because I didn't learn that.
But I learned my job to fit my role. In ensuring that the home is peaceful and functioning properly.
But suddenly a dark thought came to me.
But this was not the way to become loved as a wife. What should I do next? If the cause of failure is me. If I wasn't truly worthy of love, wouldn't I repeat the same thing no matter who I married?.
Rysdahl suddenly knelt down in front of me.
When I woke up from my dark thoughts, Rysdahl raised her head and looked at me with eyes filled with tears.
Suddenly why? Ryssdal. Everyone who sees me will know that I made you cry. snooze."
However, at those words, tears immediately flooded from Risdell's eyes. Tears slid down her white cheeks.
“Ma’am – Sir… – Sir… It’s me.”
Thank you, the words didn't come out right. It was crushed and flowed from the girl's throat like a crossword puzzle.
When I saw the girl crying, I suddenly thought that I was indifferent. I had the ability to make a lot of people happy with a little kindness.
Not necessarily by sacrificing myself, but simply by caring a little more, I was able to make people happy enough to cry.
But I was always blind to that.
Suddenly, in my head, the black veil suffocating my mind and my mind with the past faded a little. My head felt clear, as if I was freed from the dark thoughts that were always occupying a part of my mind.
Yes. Maybe the reason I went back, the reason I was given this opportunity was because I felt sorry for myself who was so foolish.
Also, doesn't God give me a chance because I have the ability to help countless people?.
While thinking about this, I combed Risdell's hair.
“I know you're clumsy, but you're a grandma. Your faults are also my faults as an owner. So don't be a burden. It's just a little kindness to me.”
When the words suddenly came to my mind, I said them calmly because they were sincere, although I was a little hesitant.
“…I just want you to be happy.”
After that, she watched her for a while, but the matter seemed to be very resolved, and Risdell's cheeks did not appear pale or frightened.
Instead, he seemed to have become close to the red-haired Hana, so I would occasionally give her vacations to go along with it.
It made me unnecessarily happy, so I smiled while embroidering.
I found it beautiful to see a clumsy boy growing up and learning to live like a fish learning to swim underwater.
Of course, from the outside, Rysdell was only a year or two younger than me.
When I laughed over nothing, Rysdell asked me why I was laughing, but I shook my head.
As I looked out the window, the red sunset was beautiful.
Maybe everything passes quietly like this, and I too find a way again, and that may be all.
Let's bury the past in the past. Haven't I bothered myself enough?.
I started embroidering again.
…Let all distractions go away.
To empty all my dark thoughts and heartbeats.
